Shades of Venables & Thompson

What a world we live in:

West Yorkshire: It started with five children - ages 11 and 12, including two girls - arrested over a suspected attempted murder of a five-year-old boy.

  • The tenacious Scotsman points out chilling similarities to the Bulger killing, going so far as to contact Bulger's mum for comment, which I regard with great suspicion.
    Someone on the Scotsman has a definite agenda to keep the Bulger case alive and the Venables/Thompson names ever before us.
  • Leeds Today also remembers Jon Venables and Robert Thompson: "Echoes of the Bulger case."
  • The Oz press picks it up.
  • Express & Star gasps in horror.
  • The Independent: the lad's mom appeals for help.
  • Yorkshire Post asks how children can commit such crimes

    Update: Three of the suspects now released, according to a June 2 BBC update.
