Ed-Op: salty Bainbridge

Our ferry factory chatter makes the Times.

Comments:
I agree with the Times completely. Islanders sometimes complain that many of the 110 ferry workers don't live on the island. But replacing the repair facility with galleries, bistros, boutiques and condos will only employ a handful of cashiers and baristas. Not likely they'll be able to afford to live on our gilded isle either. One of the anti-ferry yard losers in the election now says there is no "referendum" for kicking out the yard. Islanders understand that most of us depend on the ferry system, probably more than any other community in the Puget Sound.

That'll teach me to post any old frivolity that takes my eye.
