Booker Banville Buffoonery
Best epithet for this year's wrangling?
"Controversial"? "Safe"? "Eccentric"? "Grotesque"?
I wasn't going to post on this but the argy-bargy is worth sharing.
- 14th time lucky for Banville, as the Guardian reports.
- In the late 1970s, I hired some help to assist with filing and basic database entry.
- It took a month before it emerged that hired-help Guilland was in fact Mrs John Sutherland, wife of *the* literary lion on the London pampas.
- Assuming they are still married, in 2005 she is Mrs JS, wife of the judge of judges on this year's Booker panel.
- And this is hubby John's tale.
