Stiffed Upper Lip

Well done the Press Gazette for its post-mortem on media handling of the London bombings and giving ink to the Chartered Institute of Journalists' hammering of London News Tonight's self-serving appeals for mobile phone snaps.

Nor did the CIoJ mince words over CNN's "sheer effrontery" on its website, telling those who send in material:

"You agree to indemnify defend and hold harmless CNN, its parent and affiliated companies, its and their licensees, successors and assigns, and each of its and their officers, agents and employees from all liabilities or losses, including, without limitation, reasonable attorney’s fees".

Three cheers also to 'Medialand' for crying halt on that bulldog Brit stoicism/stiff upper lip nonsense being ladled on with a trowel:

"It has, to a large degree, been made by the media. A label we have sought to stick on the public, rather than the public saying it themselves."
