Blog pictures

i've just read in o'reilly's Essential Blogging that

1. there are copyright issues when posting images to [my] blog (which i supected]
2. more relevant, i should have been making *local* copies of the images i use, rather than "inlining" all the honest folks represented in my blog by linking directly to their servers.
3. I had vaguely read somewhere that it uses *their* bandwidth and server cycles and is therefore rude.
