Estragon Mustard
On top of all the literary bounty I receive from the British Isles, I also make sure my taste buds are catered for by sending stoic notes back from the colonies, pretending to put a brave face on the culinary desert in which I tell everyone I languish. Among my pretenses, that:
- No one has heard of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding
- Peanut butter, jam and squash are served with everything
- Pumpkin pie is the national dessert
- Nowhere can one buy kippers
- I yearn for Patum Peperium, as do I for blessèd Marmite
Yum - bangers 'n' mash, for sure, tonight!
