Peddy Performs

A somewhat simpering letter in the same Bainbridge Islander as Steve Gardner's p-peopled Peddy-whacking rePort.

Clearly written by a restrained and soberer James Ølsen (under the unconvincing joke name of "Sneller"), it was under the generously straight-faced title of 'Peddy Performed Job Admirably' and asked anyone in possession of a copy of the Director of Building & Planning's "controversial resumé" to send it direct to 'Sneller' or to the Islander for publication.

'Sneller' suggests that William K. (also writing to the editor under 'Thanks, and Vote for Tooloee') has never provided anyone with an "official resumé of his educational background nor his work history."

Well, in that case he's off the hook, isn't he?

KRCC Executive Director Mary McClure will soon be eating her words over Peddy’s claim to affiliation with that organization, and City Administrator Mary Jo Briggs soon blushing into her humble pie as her investigation grinds to a halt over lack of information that Peddy tried to clinch his way into City livery and the noble trade of hod carrier.

Meanwhile, over at the Review, a veritable smörgåsbord of peddy-centric letters and legal references.

POLICE BLOTTER: Hardly worth a separate posting, but it did catch my eye, that

"A Ferncliffe Avenue resident called police after finding suspicious items in her daughter's bedroom.

Items included a baggie of possible marijuana, a smoking pipe, a $20 bill and the keys to a motorcyle.

The case was sent to the prosecutor for charging."

This sounds like something out of Conan Doyle.

Are we to believe that a pipe-smoking Hell's Angel gained entry to a Ferncliffe residence and, knowing the daughter to be no longer resident and her room unoccupied, made himself at home to the extent of enjoying a puff of "possible" marijuana?

Pure conjecture, but do I deduce that, hearing the home-owner's foot-tread and fearing discovery, he was forced to defenestrate before being able to scoop up keys to the Harley and general weedy 'paraphernalia' , but not  before leaving a crisp note on the dresser for general expenses and - beloved by my learnèd friends of the law courts - 'mental anguish'.

How else to interpret? Surely not a stool-pigeon mother ratting to The Filth on her own daughter?

According to a PDC filing on 8/1/05, one Jeff Sneller of Sivertson Road, who lists his occupation as "contractor," made a $1000 contribution to the Peddy campaign. Mr. Sneller probably can't quite admit to himself that he wasted the $$ .
 
This is what I recieved from Will Peddy 8/16 when I asked for his resume. Does the differance between a narative and a resume mean you can make stuff up? Too bad Mr Sneller did not include his contact info.

I have been married for 29 years. We have a son who was born on Bainbridge Island in 1977 and a daughter who was born in Colville in 1979.



I was born in Pasadena, California and grew up in in the Central Joaquin Valley of California. After high school I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1968, and served in Viet Nam. I was Honorably Discharged in 1970.



After the service I attended college in California. In 1974 I graduated with bachelor’s degree in biology



After I finishing college I moved to Washington state to attended a 9 month course to learn blacksmithing and horseshoeing. It was during this period that I met my wife, and she introduced me to Bainbridge. We were married in Gig Harbor and our son was born in the Winslow Clinic.



I worked as carpenter for a few years and then went back to school to learn construction technology. After completing the course, I took a job as head of the Building & Planning Department for the City of Colville, Washington.



I worked for 8 years as a structural engineer with the City of Fresno. In the mid 80’s my wife and I launched our own restaurant business and later we started another business, as an Internet Service Provider. It is hard meeting payroll and paying taxes and that experience gave me a real respect for the businesses that are the life blood of every community.



In 1997 we moved back to Bainbridge and I took a job with the City of Bainbridge Island as a building inspector and later was promoted to Code Compliance Officer, my current position.



After 8 years living on Bainbridge and working for the City of Bainbridge Island I have decided to run for mayor, because I believe as mayor I can make Bainbridge a better place to live and a better place to raise a family.
